Our Services

Speech Therapy

Speech therapy helps children who are having difficulty producing specific sounds. This includes helping those with apraxia of speech, fluency and phonological processing disorders. Skilled therapy using evidence based approaches are used to improve the way children are able to communicate and be understood by others.

Language Therapy

Language Therapy addresses weaknesses in expressive, receptive or social language. Expressive language is the way a person is able to share what they are thinking (vocabulary, word order, sequencing etc). Receptive language is the way a person understands what is being said to them (following instructions, processing information, comprehension etc.). Social language also known as pragmatics addresses how a person engages with peers.

FAQs

Can I get private therapy if my child already gets school based therapy?

Yes. School based therapy is generally delivered in small group settings. Many families seek additional support to see faster progress or because they prefer one on one therapy which is generally not offered in the public school system.

Why choose private therapy?

Private therapy offers 1 on 1 support which can be very beneficial for many children. The public school system has stringent guidelines for students to be eligible for services, which may cause students with mild to moderate speech or language needs to be ineligible for school based services. Parents who seek out private therapy can have their child’s needs evaluated and have more input over how their child’s needs are met

Do you accept insurance?

Umbrella Speech services is private pay and does not accept insurance. We do provide superbills upon request. Super bills are a way to submit your out of pocket cost to your insurance company in order to seek reimbursement. Umbrella speech would be considered an out of network provider. The client is responsible for working with their insurance company to verify the possibility of reimbursement. Umbrella Speech Services is also an approved provider for the Florida Step Up for Students scholarship. To learn more visit https://www.stepupforstudents.org/
